The Critical Window for Puppy Socialization
The first months of a puppy’s life are critical for social development. Research in canine behavior consistently shows that puppies who experience structured socialization during this critical period grow into more confident, well-adjusted adult dogs.
Our puppy daycare program at Dog Daycare Durham provides exactly that - structured, supervised socialization in a safe environment where young dogs learn appropriate play behaviors, build confidence, and develop positive habits under the guidance of our certified counselors.

Age-Appropriate Play Groups
Not all play is equal - especially for puppies. Our certified counselors carefully group puppies based on age, size, and temperament to ensure every interaction is positive and educational. Younger puppies are introduced gradually to group play, starting with shorter sessions and building up as they gain confidence.
This gradual introduction approach helps prevent:
- Overwhelm and fear responses
- Negative associations with other dogs
- Bite inhibition regression
- Bullying from larger or more assertive puppies
Positive Reinforcement Training Foundations
Every moment at Dog Daycare Durham is a learning opportunity for your puppy. Our counselors use positive reinforcement techniques throughout the day, reinforcing good behaviors like:
- Appropriate play signals and body language
- Bite inhibition and gentle mouthing
- Recall and name recognition
- Patience during transitions
- Calm settling during rest periods
These early training foundations set your puppy up for a lifetime of good behavior and make formal training easier down the road.
Vaccination Requirements for Puppies
Safety is our top priority, especially for young dogs with developing immune systems. All puppies must meet these requirements:
- Minimum age: 16 weeks old
- Completed vaccination series including Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella
- Free Interview Day assessment before enrollment
Our strict vaccination protocols protect every puppy in our care while providing the socialization environment they need during this crucial developmental stage. Review the full vaccination requirements for boarding and daycare in Durham before your visit.

Why Puppy Daycare Matters
Puppies left alone for extended periods during the workday can develop:
- Separation anxiety that persists into adulthood
- Destructive behaviors born from boredom and excess energy
- Socialization deficits that make interactions with other dogs stressful
- House training setbacks from inconsistent schedules
Our structured puppy daycare addresses all of these concerns while giving you peace of mind during your workday.
Same Great Value
Puppy daycare follows the same pricing as our standard daycare program - $35 for a full day, $26.50 for a half day, with multi-dog family discounts and package savings available. The same all-inclusive, transparent pricing that Durham families trust.
Every puppy daycare experience begins with our free Interview Day, where our certified counselors assess your puppy’s temperament and readiness for group socialization. There’s no obligation - just a thorough, caring assessment to ensure our program is the right fit.
